从传统走向现代,是人类文明发展的必由之路。五四运动促使中国近代以来的现代化探索发生根本性逆转,激进分子在多重比较中最终选择了社会主义方向;五四理念构成中国现代人格的必备要素,主体意识觉醒的知识分子在五四运动中成长起来,此后成为推进中国现代化进程的重要力量;五四运动促进了马克思主义广泛传播及期同中国工人运动的日益结合,推动现代政党的诞生,从此成为领导中国现代化进程的关键性政治力量;民主与科学作为五四时期反对封建主义的最有力思想武器,既是中国现代化的主要目标,也是推动中国现代化的重要力量;五四运动是中国现代民族主义的第一次高潮,从此爱国主义具有现代意义并成为推动中国现代化的持久动力。

Moving from tradition towards modernity is the only way for the development of human civilization.The May 4 th movement caused the fundamental reversal for China’s exploration of modernization since modern times,the radical intellectuals eventually chose the socialism direction after multiple comparisons,the idea of May 4 th became the essential elements for the modern personality for China as well,the intellcutals with subject consciousness grew up in the May 4 th movement and later became an important force to promote China’s modernization.The May 4 th Movement which improved the wide spread of Marxism and its combination with the Chinese workers’movement so as to accelerate the birth of modern political parties,hence became the key political force leading China’s modernization process.Democracy and science,as the most powerful ideological weapons against feudalism in the May 4 th Movement period,are not only the main goal of China’s modernization,but also an important force in promoting China’s modernization.The May 4 th Movement was the first climax of China’s modern nationalism.From then on,patriotism had the modern significance and became the lasting power to promote China’s modernization.
