The principle of'sevenfold reduction and eightfold boost'proposed in Basic Question for the health and longevity. However, this principle was explained differently by scholars in history.WANG Bing in the Tang Dynasty explained that it belonged to coition medicine and was related to the number of Tiangui number of the male and female.Besides,in the A Discussion on Universal Law found through archeological excavation recently,'sevenfold reduction and eightfold boost'is explained as coition medicine. Therefore,'sevenfold reduction and eightfold boost'is widely accepted.According to the original sentence in Basic Questions, based on the yin-yang theory and eight trigrams,it is proposed that this principle is the major principle for applying yin-yang,and it could be applied to guide the health cultivation in the coition medicine. Both'sevenfold reduction and eightfold boost'and Tiangui number stem from yin-yang and four seasons, and the major principle for health cultivation is to follow the variation of four seasons and yin-yang.Therefore the variation of yin-yang and four seasons is closely related to the growth, development and aging of the human body.
