reports on the international seminar sponsored by the Chinese government and held in Beijing in March 1984.With United Nations support,theseminar heard forty-nine papers presented by Chinese and foreign scholars.This ar-ticle presents extracts of significant articles and groups them in terms of the topicanalyzed,viz.sex ratios,age structure,fertility rate,mortality rate,employment,andhousehold size and family structure.Most of these topics are then further subdividedfor ease of access.
