《2017年南海航行状况研究报告》文体特点及其英译策略

2017年7月中国航海学会和上海海事大学共同在京发布的《2017年南海航行状况研究报告》(中英文版)是中国航海领域专家学者智能的结晶,为航海领域的权威学术研究报告。鉴于此,对这一文献的文体特点及其英译策略进行分析。作为信息类文本,其内容翔实,数据准确充分,用词正式规范,结构程式化,表达专业清晰,频繁使用长句;英译版在确保意识形态上政治正确的同时,应用NEWMARK的信息类文本语义翻译策略,进行套译、拆分、结构调整和增补性翻译,以避免英汉语义和语域差异可能引起的信息缺漏。该研究可为同类型研究报告的撰写与翻译提供参考。

Research Report on Navigation Status in the South China Sea,2017( Chinese and English versions),published by China Institute of Navigation and Shanghai Maritime University in Beijing,July of2017,is the common achievement of experts and scholars in Chinese navigation field and is of authority in the field of navigation. In view of this,the stylistic features and translation strategies of the literature are analyzed. As an informative text,the report is of detailed and objective coverage,precise statistics,formal diction,professional and clear expression,formularized structure and frequent usage of long sentences. While ensuring political correctness in ideology,the English version employs NEWMARK’s semantic translation strategy of informational texts: formatting,splitting,reversing order of phrases and providing explanatory addition,thus avoiding understatement due to the semantic and register differences between Chinese and English. This study can provide reference for the writing and translation of similar research reports.
