机器翻译伦理的挑战与导向

Ethical Challenges Posed by and Ethical Principles Proposed for Machine Translation

本文在试图厘清翻译伦理、机器翻译伦理、翻译技术伦理等相关概念基础上,考察翻译技术应用,特别是机器翻译活动给当下翻译领域带来的变化,以及就此引发的对既有翻译伦理规约的挑战,继而从约纳斯的后现代技术伦理观——'责任伦理'出发,提出以前瞻性、整体性的视野,将坚持传承已有翻译伦理规范与优化创新责任伦理规约相结合,并以此作为技术时代机器翻译活动的伦理准则,以应对当下和未来机器翻译和其他翻译技术应用带来的伦理挑战。

Based on an attempt to clarify the notions of translation ethics,machine translation(MT)ethics and translation technology ethics,this paper first views MT ethics as the applied ethics of translation technology which is a broader concept.Then it examines the changes brought by translation technology to the translation field as well as the challenges posed by translation technology,in particular MT to the existing ethical conventions of translation.On top of that,proceeding from Jonas’post-modern ethics of technology and a forward-looking perspective,the author proposes a renewed'responsibility ethics'as the guiding ethical principle for machine translation activities in the age of technology by combining the existing translation ethical norms and an optimized and innovated responsibility ethics with which to cope with the current and future ethical challenges of MT and other translation technologies.
