In this article, a new process for synthesis of 4-toluene sulfonyl chloride is reported. At first, p-toluenesulphonic acid is synthesized from totuene and sulfuric acid, then, 4-totuene sulfonyl chloride is synthesized from p-toluenesulphonic acid and chlorosulphonic acid. This process has many advantages over the traditional process, such as high yield, high content, high selectivity and low cost in the process. Itopens up broad prospects for commercialization.
