In corresponding with the concept of sustainable development,the modern forestry in Australia has achieved a win-win situation between ecology and economy in its development by relying on the scientific&technological research and development(R&D)for decades.After reviewing the current situation of forestry development in Australia,this paper analyzes the value,strength,source of funds and mode of forestry R&D in Australia,and draws the conclusion that the forestry R&D practices in Australia boasts the reference value,which could be learned for improving the level of R&D in forestry industry sector and promote the sustainable development of forestry in China.
