Philip Roth's The G host Writer is comprehended from the perspective of postmodernism. Based on the analysis of the representations of decanonization, intertextuality and metafiction in The G host Writer, the writer explores the application significance of the postmodern narrative strategies. Philip Roth employs decanonization in the way of rewriting The Diary of Anne Frank with the purpose of articulating his artistic ambition: to present the complexity of the Jew s. He adopts intertextuality to represent his attitudes tow ards the artists attempting to extend the significance of the work and probe into their common problems. The use of metafiction exposes the artifice of the fiction, arouses the study of the relationship between art and reality, and displays Roth's unique art of impersonation.
