圣经对中国现代小说的影响呈现出丰富的文学样态,不同时期的现代作家既用之以抒发个人情感,表达对人性的思考,也借之以寻求救亡图存的出路。现代作家们对圣经和基督教所持的保留态度与1922至1927年爆发的'非基督教运动'有关,也与中国古典文化蕴含的理性传统存在密切的关联性。在外来文化强势输入的现代中国,小说家们选择性地改编圣经以便为其所用,这种做法值得借鉴。

The Bible has exerted immense literary influences on Chinese modern fiction: Modern writers of different periods have adopted its motifs to express personal feelings, to ponder humanity, or utilize it in their quest to save the nation. The more reserved attitude of modern writers towards the Bible and Christianity is related to the'the Anti-Christian Movement' from 1922 to 1927, and the 'rational tradition' of classical Chinese culture. In contemporary China,with the strong influx of foreign cultures, the selective adaptation and use of the Bible by writers in the early twentieth century is worth reconsidering as a model.
