The spreading of Chinese Buddhism has influenced the Japanese culture greatly.In many branches of Buddhism,the'Chan'sect has given the deepest effect on Japanese gardens.The article reviews the Japanese traditional gardens-'Gushanshui'and teahouse on which the'Chan'sect has deep effects and this thought inheritance in Japanese modern architectures,and finally reveals the spiritual source of the Japanese landscape architecture.
