Eileen Chang’s novels have rich color images, she used the language of colorless, gray, white as background to outline contrasting colors of red, blue and green and so on. She implied cultural metaphor beyond color images by expressing emotions and images with colors. She was attracted to the color language and used gorgeous color to project the secular legend. Her innate sense of loneliness, abandonment and loss made her novel images desolate and sad no matter how she used bright colors in her novels.
