Ancient books is a precious treasure of the Chinese cultural heritage.The protection of ancient books is an important measure of five thousand years of Chinese civilization continued.This paper reviews the historic journey of ancient book protection after the establishment of new China,summarizes the successful practices and existing problems on the implementation of the'Chinese ancient book protection plan'in various parts of the country,and explores future directions of the survey and registration of ancient books.
