《天堂蒜薹之歌》英译本彰显了译者主体性。译者葛浩文译自己喜欢的小说时,有意美化代表自由与正义的人物,根据英语思维对文章进行重组,巧妙译出原文含义;在重量与距离的翻译上,将便捷性与精确性置于首位,特意增译对比,突显表达效果。
Howard Goldblatt's subjectivity as a translator can be traced in The Garlic Ballads. Specifically speak ing, he only translates what he likes, deliberately improves the merits of the characters that represent freedom and jus tice, makes reorganization between or within paragraphs for better effect sometimes, observes the principle of quick u nderstanding and precision, ingeniously interprets unique Chinese expressions from different perspectives and adds c ontrast in some places on purpose to improve the reading effect.
