Objective To observe the clinical effect of MEBO in treating pressure ulcer on the aged in an elderly care institution. Methods Forty patients with pressure ulcers of stage Ⅱ and above, admitted to Hainan Provincial Care Home from August 2015 to May 2018, were randomly divided into a study group(20 cases) and a control group(20 cases). Patients in the study group were treated with MEBO while patients in the control group with Amikacin Spray. The wound pain, clinical effect and wound healing time were compared between the two groups. Results After 2 weeks of treatment, the wound pain score was(2. 01 ± 0. 02) points and the total effective rate was 100% in the study group, which were much superior to the corresponding(4. 57 ± 0. 22) points and 60. 0% in the control group, and statistically significant differences were observed between the two groups( bothP< 0. 01). The wounds of the two groups were all completely healed at the end of treatment course. The wound healing time was(67. 25 ± 2. 12) d in the study group and(120. 45 ±2. 81) d in the control group, between which the comparison showed statistically significant difference(P< 0. 01).Conclusion In the treatment of pressure ulcer wounds in the elderly patients, MEBO can effectively relieve the wound pain and promote wound healing, deserving to be promoted in clinical practice due to its good clinical effect.
