To confirm the contemporary destiny of Confucianism,it is necessary to understand the position and relationship of ideology and cultural tradition in the contemporary Chinese social structure.From the perspective of basic contradiction and civilization of social history,the paper holds that the contemporary ideology should be taken as political construction and the cultural tradition should also be taken as the fundamental of civilization,which are opposite and complementary,and constitute a necessary condition for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.Therefore,Confucianism has become one of the fundamentals of civilizations and moral genes in contemporary China.The comprehension of the relationship between contemporary ideology and cultural tradition helps us synthesize the essential requirements of socialism and Chinese excellent traditional cultural elements in the course of cultivating and carrying forward the socialist core values.
