Relevance Theory and the Teaching of English to Chinese Translation

教育部大学英语课程教学要求中明确规定要求大学英语学生应具备一定的翻译技能。应用关联理论翻译观指导翻译教学有助于让学生认识到翻译活动是一种涉及到原文作者、译者和译文读者的三元交际活动,培养学生在具体语境中对原文进行正确理解的习惯,以及准确地用文字传递出原文作者交际意图的翻译素养,从而提升大学英语学生的英汉翻译能力。

In terms of the College English Curriculum Requirements,today’s College English students are required to acquire the translation competency.With the relevance translation concept in minds,College English students are supposed to recognize that translation is a three-party activity concerning the writer,translator and the reader of the translation.They are to develop the habit of acquiring the correct understanding of the original work in the given context and be provided with the quality of conveying the author’s communication intentions to the readers.Thus their translation skills in translating English into Chinese will surely be improved.
