Research on News Translation Based on Functional Theory of Translation

新闻的主要功能是在大众之间进行信息交流,新闻翻译的优劣直接影响着语言文化交流。在新闻翻译中,信息接受者即译语读者是译者必须考虑的重要因素之一。功能翻译理论是一种强调译语读者和译语语境的翻译理论,认为翻译的目的决定它的译文,也决定翻译的策略和方法。本文试图从功能翻译理论的角度对新闻文体的翻译进行分析,探讨功能翻译理论对新闻文体翻译的指导作用。

The main function of the news is the exchange of information among the public,therefore the quality of news translation directly affect the exchange of language and culture. In the news translation,the information recipient( aka. target language readers) is an important factor that the translator should consider. Functional translation theory is the one that emphasizes the target language readers and target language context. It argues that the purpose of translation determines its translation and the strategies and methods of translation. This paper aims to analyze journalese translation from the perspective of functional translation theory and explore the role of functional translation theory in guiding the journalese translation.
