For a certain ship, the authors analyze the loading at the shoulder of the cylinder liner and the structural strength. It is concluded that the crack is initiated by the inner diameter of the copper sealing washer not matching with the outside wall dimensions. The problem could be resolved by ameliorating the copper sealing washer of the liner.
