As the famed "the most northern city on the earth", Svalbard Archipelago, deep in the Arctic Ocean, has ten-month-long polar days and nights and more polar bears than residents. After 1925, China, together with other 27 nations, signed the Svalbard Treaty, which states that Norway claims the sovereignty of the archipelago but all the signing nations are entitled to carry out scientific research and economic activities. Now 42 nations have entered into the treaty. Svalbard Archipelago is full of mysterious appeal as a destination for both scientists and tourists.
