Fishery Culture in Huaniao Islet: Interdependence between Human and Sea

花鸟岛临海而渔、依海而生,常年的海上渔业和特殊的海洋环境孕育了丰富多彩的渔文化,围绕渔船而产生了造'木龙'、船饰画、船神信仰、海上礼让之俗等一系列技艺和独特民俗。

Huaniao Islet borders the sea while its people make a living on fishing. The fishing on the sea arond the years and unique marine environment have nurtured rich and colorful fishery culture there. A large range of excellent craftsmanship and some unique folk customs, has been born, such as making fishing boats(Wooden Dragons, a nickname given by locals), decorative painting of boats, religious belief in Boat Gods, and marine courtesy and modesty.
