Promote Marine Eco-Culture, Extend Maritime Silk Road and Foster A Culture Base for Potential Marine Power

海洋与人类是“物我共生”的生命共同体,海洋自然生态系统是人类可持续发展所依存的重要支撑。中国是陆地大国也是海洋大国,“声教四海”“和谐万邦”“海纳百川”“和而不同,求同存异”是中华海洋生态文化之精髓。以海洋生态文化视角,透视中华民族与海洋的历史渊源和曾经的辉煌,不可回避中国海洋史上曾经的屈辱与苦难,以高度的生态文化自觉,透视中国海蓝色国土,至关人类终极关怀和海洋强国的战略使命。

Oceans and humans are in a continuum to share a strong bond and a common destiny. The marine ecosystem is the rock bed of the sustainable development of human kind. China boasts both large land area and sea space. And its marine eco-culture highlights inclusiveness, tolerance and the philosophy of "agree-to-disagree". When examining the Chinese marine eco-culture, we have to see the historical origin, the past glories and the traumas and humiliations. We should stay alerted and undertake the strategic mission to empower our marine culture and care for the human kind.
