A New Explanation of Ming Wang and the Palace of Ming Wang

陕西丹凤县著名清代建筑群“明王宫”的主祀神祗究竟是谁?旧传为南宋末代亡国投海的小皇帝赵昺。此文比照实物,查诸史料,援引大量资料证明,明王宫的“明王”应是曾辅佐大禹治水的伯益。

A famous ancient building group located in the north of Dan Feng County, Shaanxi Province is called the Palace of Ming Wang (God of the River). But,who is the god dedicated to the palace has been a controversial issue for a long time. Some say thet the god dedicated to the palace is the last emperor during the Nan Song Dynasty, whose name is Zhao Bing.After studying all available literature about historical books, expecially the book Shiji written by Si-Maqian, the author believes that the god which is dedicated to the Palace is called BO-Yi who used to help Xia Yu (the king of Xia)in harnessing the all the Rivers in China Xia Dynasty and was responsible for agriculture and irrigation at that time.
