Compilation Characteristics of Qikou Town

碛口镇地处山西临县的南部。清至民国初年,"口外"得到开发,碛口凭借黄河水运而成为北方著名的商贸重镇、水旱转运码头,被称为九曲黄河第一镇,是晋商的西大门。近年来,关于碛口的研究颇引人注目,清华大学陈志华教授编著的《古镇碛口》堪称标志性成果。其编撰特点主要表现为四个方面,史学价值和社会价值不容小视。

Qikou Townis located in the south of Linxian,Shanxi Province.Back in the early years of the Qing Dynasty to the republic of China,Qikou Town,with its natural location by Huanghe river,grew into an important commercial town and a terminal for navy transshipment in the northern China,which gave it a name 'The First Town Along the Huanghe River'(a famous commercial and trade centre)and became the west gate for the Shanxi businessmen.In recent years, study on Qikou has become an attractive theme,with Qikou Town by Chen Zhihua,aprofessor in Tsinghua University as the marking result.The book of Qikou Townis characterized in four aspects,and its historical and social value cannot be overlooked.
