The Xiaolangdi Yellow River Diversion Project is one of the major water diversion projects in Shanxi Province. The safety monitoring design of earth tunnel section of the water diversion route of this project was introduced.The contents of the design included selection of the monitoring section location,arrangement of the instruments,optimization design and adjustment in the follow-up construction. The design results could provide reference for monitoring designs of similar projects in future.
