Mombasa-Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway:An Exemplification of the Steady and Sustained Development of the “Belt and Road” Initiative in Africa

非洲大陆是'一带一路'倡议的自然延伸、历史延续和现实延展。作为'一带一路'倡议与非洲国家发展战略对接的旗舰型项目,蒙内铁路2019年5月31日已建成通车两周年。自开通运营以来,蒙内铁路运营状态良好,列车开行数量与客货运量稳步增长,其高效便捷且节能环保的运输为肯尼亚社会经济发展与东非一体化提供了强劲支持。蒙内铁路沿着郑和下西洋开辟的中非友谊航路,全面实现了中国提出的'五通'理念对非洲国家探索独立自主发展道路的鼎力支持,探索了基础设施建设先行,带动和促进政治、经贸、人文交流的中非合作道路,为新时代构建更加紧密的中非命运共同体提供了新路径,奠定了坚实基础。

The African continent is a natural,historical and realistic extension of the'Belt and Road'Initiative(BRI).As the flagship project of the synergy between the BRI with development strategies of African countries,Mombasa-Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway(SGR),which was opened to traffic on May 31,2017,has been well functioning by now and witnessed a steady increase in terms of train traffic as well as passenger and cargo transportation,whose efficient,convenient and energy-saving transport capacity would be a positive stimulation to Kenya’s social and economic development and sub-regional integration of East Africa.Stretching alongside the friendship road pioneered by Zheng He’s voyage,the SGR illustrates the comprehensive support of the ideas of'Five Connectivity'proposed by China to the independent development of Africa,exploring a China-Africa cooperation mode which aims to facilitate bilateral ties on politics,economy,trade,and people to people exchanges through collaboration of infrastructures,and laying a solid foundation for building a stronger China-Africa community of a shared future in the new era.
