Chinese Folklore and Cross-cultural Narrative Art in Willow Patterns

本文通过对"柳树图案"的由来进行简单梳理,从具有相同"中国主题"的"柳树图案"叙事中,解读"柳树图案"的中国叙事艺术,发现和探讨异国形象、文化身份和叙事策略在陶艺创作中的相互作用和相互影响。认为英国陶工在异质文化语境中成功地借助了"中国元素"进行陶瓷产品的创作和销售,采取了灵活多变的叙事策略,借以达到他们所要表现的"中国形象",实现了瓷器从实用价值向艺术并举的转变,使之成为一种与人类内在情感紧密相连的艺术形式。指出中西文化间的交流和融合才是激荡中国陶瓷文化复兴的动力。

Through a brief analysis of the origin of the'willow pattern'and an interpretation of the Chinese narrative art in willow patterns with similar Chinese motif,the paper explores the interaction among foreign images,cultural identity and narrative strategies. The paper holds that British potters succeeded in adopting the flexible narrative strategies in the context of heterogeneous culture in order to absorb the essence of Chinese culture and achieve a better performance in the innovation and sales of its products.The paper concludes that the cultural exchanges and blending between China and the West can be worked as the engine of Chinese ceramic culture.
