《王室法兰克年代记》系加洛林时代大年代记的滥觞,也是当时最为主要的史乘之一。'官方史书'、原创性、引领性以及巨大的影响力是这部史著的主要特征。从其所涵盖的时间、记载的内容和编纂体例等各个方面而言,这部文献无论是对加洛林时代的法兰克社会历史加以探究,还是对加洛林历史编纂学的发展与变革予以梳理和考察都是一部具有极大的学术价值的历史文献。虽然西方学界对此著述业已进行了相当充分的研究,然仍有继续深入探索的空间。

The Royal Frankish Annals marks the beginning of the major annals of the Carolingian Era,and is the most important historical work of its time.This work bears four major characteristics:its existence as an official historical work,its originality,leading power and huge impact.Judging from the length of time it covers,content it provides,and style of its writing,etc.,the Royal Frankish Annals has established itself as an important reference book,not only to the study of Frankish social history during the Carolingian,but also to the review and summary of the advancement and revolution of the Carolingian historiography.Considering this,in addition to paying close attention to research advances in other countries,Chinese scholars should also pay this book its due respect,which will facilitate a deeper understanding of Early Medieval age of West Europe.
