惠山古镇,地处无锡西郊,是无锡地名'无锡锡山山无锡'的发源地。古镇虽小,却东依惠山,南靠京杭大运河,自古以来就是物阜民丰之地。惠山古镇最让人叹为观止的是祠堂,一个方圆几里的小镇,历代祠堂建筑和重要遗迹竟有118家之多。惠山泥人和惠山祠堂本是连体婴儿——惠山泥人全盛时,惠山古镇是全国赫赫有名的'泥人一条街',大小泥人店面、作坊有120家之多,每一个祠堂必定隐藏着一个泥人作坊。曾几何时,每天清晨,东方才泛白,祠堂看守们就已经早早出门,推着板车。
Hui Shan, one of famous ancient towns of China, is located in the west of Wuxi city. Although a very small town, it has been regarded as a rich place withplenty of products since ancient times. The most amazing thing is that there are numerous ancestral halls and cultural relics and what impressed visitors mostis the distinguished clay figurines, which has become the special symbol of Hui Shan.
