Most Chinese artists studying in France in the beginning of the 20th century were dedicated to learn the accurate,graceful and realistic styles of Western arts.Arts of the Western world,which encompass a series of precise artistic theories and practice rules,are totally different from Chinese arts.It is the reason why the then young Chinese painters were so obsessed with Western arts.For them,classic realism was not only an extremely fresh and stimulating art form but a kind of future for Chinese arts,though it was on the wane in the Western art world.
