信息化社会一个重要问题是“信息爆炸”,解决“信息爆炸”的方法之一是数据压缩编码技术,随着数据压缩编码技术的发展和广泛应用,许多国际组织制定了应用于不同领域的数据压缩标准。该文介绍了由国际标准化组织(ISO)和国际电信联盟(ITU)制定的视频数据压缩编码的各种国际标准及这些标准在其相应领域的应用,并指出了分析和研究一种新的国际标准的重要性。

The Information Exploding is an important problem in information society,One of the methods which resolve this problem is the data compression coding technique.With the development and abroad application of the data compression coding technique,many international organizations established some standards of data compression.This paper discusses the international standards of the video compression coding which were established by ISO and ITU and their applications,at the same time ,it also indicates the importance of analyzing and studying a new kind of international standard.
