Functional principal design is one of the decisive factors in making products competitive in the markets. Its nature is innovative thinking. The designers who are to make innovations must have a strong sense of innovation, a solid basis of creative knowledge and a clear comprehension of the innovative mechanism. Such factors as innovative mechanism, basis of creative knowledge and innovative thinking are discussed in this paper.
