摘要
简·奥斯丁是一位公认的“道德教育家”,她在《诺桑觉寺》中一方面用严肃的基督教道德观来衡量忠贞爱情与美满婚姻,另一方面又史无前例地严惩背叛基督教婚姻观的不道德者,从而使《诺桑觉寺》成为一部严肃的道德教科书,并验证了奥斯丁对亚里斯多德美德理论和《新约全书》道德的继承。
Jane Austen, in the light of Christian morality, punishes severely those who betray the marriage morality in Northanger Abbey by depriving them of both love and marriage. The core of morality and even of religion seems to make Northanger Abbey a good moral book.
