An Interpretation of Shi Tuo's The Orchard Town

师陀的《果园城记》体现了战争时期特有的荒原体验与感伤色调,作家在对战争和民族进行反思后所持的启蒙立场与作者原有的情感立场产生了多重冲突,而情感、理智及其与时代之间犬牙交错的紧张与焦虑又为作品打上了浓重的挽歌情调。

Based on the text interpretation of \%The Orchard Town\%, this paper demonstrates the interaction between men and the times. It argues that the war-time background provided the writer with experience in the wasteland and a feeling of sadness. Reflecting on the war and the nation, the writer held a viewpoint of enlightenment, which discords with his original stance on emotion. Because of these interweaving feelings, this novel is seen a sentiment of elegy. 
