近代印刷工业的兴起,新闻出版业的形成,报刊、杂志的大量出现和文学社团以及作家职业化(稿费制)的形成等物质条件为后来现代文学的产生准备了必要的物质前提,但器物层面上的改变是浅层次的,"道"的确立则是十分艰难的.经过近代以来现代意识的积累,量变转化为质变,新文学才得以在"五四"新文化运动和文学革命中真正诞生.

The social progress before the New Cultural Movement has prepared and essential material prerequisite for modern Literature. But it is superficial. With the steady accumulation of modern consciousness, quantitative change turns into qualitative change so that modern literature was born at the New Culture Movement period and the Literature Revolution stage.
