The study of preposition plays an important role in English study. In both teaching theories and practice, there's a bad habit that prepositions should be taught in the order they occur in the text with equal emphasis and without considering the necessary proper sequence. From the basic distinctions between preposition and particle, simple preposition and complex preposition, etc., this paper demonstrates the necessity of the general suitable sequences in teaching preposition, in the hope to offer some help to English teaching.
