This paper reviews the preparation and application of metal oxides nanowires, nanorods. Two methods, gas-pgase thermal chemical synthesis, thermal decomposition of precursor and sol-gel electrophoresis deposition, are emphatically introduced, mainly from the preparation process and the growing mechanism of the materials. Also the potential application of metal oxides nanowire/rods is presented.
