A Further Discussion on the Valence of Laying-verbs in Mandarin

本文在《现代汉语置放动词配价研究》(徐峰1998)的基础上,进一步讨论置放动词的配价问题。我们认为,一、在确定一个动词是不是置放动词的时候,必须严格遵守已经设立的语法鉴定框架。二、不能依据处所成分带与不带、带什么方位词,给置放动词划分小类。三、置放动词能进入什么样的句式,既有音节上的原因,也有语义上的原因。

Based on the thesis 'Studies on the Valence of Laying-verbs in Mandarin'(Xu Feng 1998), this paper discusses the valence of laying-verbs further. It is held that only according to the established syntactic frames a laying-verb can be identified. The fact a locative noun is or is not followed by a location word cannot be used as a criterion for the sub-classifying of laying verbs. The specific sentence pattern a laying-verb suits is decided not only by syllable of the verb, but also by its semantic meanings.
