Code-switching and the Adaptability Theory

本文以语用学的适应论为基础对小说<围城>中的语码转换现象进行分析,说明语码转换是交际者为适应语言、语境和交际双方的心理现实而做出的动态性调整的观点.

The paper applies Verschueren's adaptability theory to the description and analysis of the code switching instances in Qian Zhongshu's The City Besieged . We argue that code switching is a pragmatic strategy to adapt to language, context and interlocutors' psychological state.
