自然语言处理的发展概况及前景展望

A Survey and Prediction of Natural Language Processing

半个世纪以来自然语言处理经历了机器翻译、自然语言理解和情报自动检索等发展过程,逐渐成为应用语言学的三大应用之一.笔者认为,自然语言处理发展前景广阔,预计在以下几个领域将有新的突破:1)术语数据库将发挥更大的作用;2)数据语言学将继续渗透到自然语言处理的各个领域;3)混合策略将在机器翻译发展中发挥主导作用.

During the past half century the development of Natural Language Processing has involved such courses as mechanical translation, Natural Language Understanding, and Information Retrieval. Gradually it has become one of the great applications of applied linguistics. Natural Language Processing, in my opinion, will meet with broad prospects. It is estimated that it will make new breakthrough in the following aspects: 1)Terminological data bank will become more widely used; 2)Mathematical Linguistics will continue permeating through almost every field of Natural Language Processing; 3)Hybrid Strategy will play the part of the main force in the development of Mechanical Translation.
