The microemulsion which is formed with nonionic surfactants is a quarternary mixture made of alkyl phenol oxyethylene ethers, oil(toluene), water and alcohol(hexanol). This system was studied thermo-dynamically by means of dilution to determine the standard free energy of transfer from the oil phase to the interfacial region for the cosurfa-ctant. From the effects of temperature, the entropy and enthalpy values were also calculated. The relationships between the thermodynamic quan-tities and the oxyethylene unit number (n)of the surfactants were determined as follows: △G_(s-i)~0=31300+396n-T.exp (4.85-0.00761n) (J.mo1^(-1)) △H_(s-i)~0=31300+369n(J.mol^(-1)) ln△S(s-i)~0=4.85+0.00761n
