Based on the introduction of XML and data integration technology, the paper mainly discusses the important function of XML in the data integration technology. XML,which provides a general format for expressing both data structures and contents, is of great help in integrating data at 3 data levels: model, schema and instance. But XML alone cannot provide a comprehensive solution to the data integration problem. To better solve the problem, the other tools and technology concerned are still required.
