摘要 As a natural fortres s, the Yanmen-guan or Gate of Wild Geese Pass is s trategically perched on the Gouz hu Mountain, and had been a cons tant point of contention for the military in old China. Here we can see sections of the Great Wall erected during the Ming Dynas ty, and the pas sbuilt in the Tang Dynas ty with the three Chinese characters (Yan Men Guan) above the entrance s till dis-cernible. Nowadays the Yanmengaun is eas ily acces s ible. And at the foot of the Yanmenguan, a two-way 8-lane tunnel, the longest so far on China’s expres s-ways, is under cons truction and s ched-uled to open to traffic next year.
