标引深度新探

DISCUSSION ON THE INDEXING DEPTH

在标引工作中,标引深度的定义是一个争论较多的问题。目前普遍采用的是国标GB3860—83《文献主题标引规则》中的定义,即"标引深度是指一篇(种)文献所给予的全部检索标识的数量。即对该文献中具有检索意义的内容特征和外表特征进行分析描述所达到的深度。包括主题标识、分类标识、著者标识和书名标识等。对主题标引来说,则是指对该文献所给予的主题词数量的多少。

The author holds that the subject indexing depth indicates the layers todeal with when describing the content and characters of document subjects:The first layer is the revelation and description of the first level subjects(main subjects); The second one is the definition and explanation of the fi-rst level subjects; The third one is the revelation and description of the seco-nd level subjects; The forth one is the definition and explanation of the seco-nd level subjects, and so on.
