Based on analysis of the meaning of sustainable development,the author put forward a logical thinking on how to realize sustainable development:to give full play to market mechanism in stimulating economic development;to overcome the market failure by institutional incentives or restraints;to build up ecological ethics of sustainable development.Thus, a social and economic sustainable development could be guaranteed by material base,institutional structure and ideology.
