This paper introduces the technique of the advance reinforcement of soil with horizontal rotary jet grouting piles in plastic clay in a running tunnel from the Grand Theater to Scientific Gym in Shenzhen metro. The mechanism of reinforcement and technical features are emphasized and the design basis and parameters of the horizontal jet grouting piles are presented. The construction technology, equipment, key points of construction, results of reinforcement, safety reliability and economy, and so on, are also described in detail, which can be referred to by the similar projects.
