举办体育赛事能促进经济增长吗?

Do Mega Sports Events Promote Local Economic Growth?Empirical Evidence from China

体育赛事的经济效应经常是赛事举办方的宣传重点,因而评估大型体育赛事对主办城市带来的经济影响,具有重要的理论和现实意义。利用21世纪以来国内举办的奥运会、亚运会和全国运动会等大型赛事,全面分析了大型体育赛事对主办城市的经济影响。研究表明:平均来看,体育赛事对主办城市经济有一定的促进效应,但是体育赛事的经济影响与赛事的规模相关。奥运会、亚运会等大型国际赛事促进了主办城市经济增长,而全运会对主办城市经济增长作用有限。政府投资举办赛事并不仅仅为了经济影响,体育赛事的非经济效应是举办赛事的重要动机。

The economic effect of mega sports events is always advertized by hosting city and the sponsor fund for the events usually is the public expenditure,so it is important to evaluate the economic effect of mega sports events.We analyze a series of National Games of China and compare them with the Beijing Olympic Games and Guangzhou Asian Games.We find that there is a kind of return to scales in the sports events.The National Games has no significant effect to the hosting city but there are positive effects to the economic growth of hosting city in the international sports games.The results show that other than economic benefit,the non economic motivation may be the important factor for hosting mega sports events.
