CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION

一、调查目的与任务厦门港湾位于台湾海峡西侧,福建南部金门湾内九龙江入海口处。它是我国东南沿岸的天然深水良港之一,也是福建省工业、农业、渔业、旅游、海上交通运输和对外贸易的重要港口。厦门市地处南亚热带季风气候区,是个风景优美的海滨旅游城市。随着厦门经济特区建设的发展,厦门港湾的地位与作用更显得十分重要,它将成为经济特区建设和发展的生命线。该港湾主航道水深一般在10m以上,最深达30m,10kt级轮船可随时出入;50kt级轮船可乘潮出入。港湾四周山峦屏障,港外受大金门、小金门、大担、二担、青屿等诸岛屿掩护,水域较平静,是天然的避风良港。

The purpose and the task,the scope and the setting and distribution of the stations,the content and the main methods used,the field operation organization and the indoor analysis and compiling of the data collected,as well as the major results obtained in the comprehensive investigation of marine environment of Xiamen Harbour are desoribed in this chapter.The purpose of the investigation was to provide basic data for the harbour construction,marine environmental protection,aquiculture,municipal construction and the whole planning of Xiamen Harbour.The investigation,which was a comprehensive and multidisciplinary one of marine science,was carried out from August,1980,to October,1981,and the scope of it included Xinjiang sea area,the west harbour and the outer harbour of Xiamen,as well as Jiulongjiang Estuary;the setting and distribution of the stations in the investigation were in accordance with the trapeze and there were four sampling points in each minute,with the density of the sampling polints being appropriately crowded in the important areas;location in the investigation was by using the sextent with the error<±30m;and the investigation included the subjects of marine hydrometeorology,seawater chemistry,marine biology and marine sedimentology,with the requirement being generally according to the MARINE INVESTIGATION SPECIFICATIONS.A great number of scientific data were collected in the investigation,which could provide basic data for the construction planning of Xiamen Harbour and for monographic studies latter on.
