摘要 马克·吐温所著《汤姆·索亚历险记》《哈克贝利·费恩历险记》等不仅仅是儿童文学作品,也是马克·吐温小说从幽默文学向严肃文学转型的开始。这种转变既有作家人生中悲剧性的部分对其创作的影响,也是美国飞速发展的时代背景下作家民主思想从萌芽到成熟的过程的体现。 Mark Twain proposed that his Juvenile Literature such as The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and The Adventures Huckleberry Finn are not only literatures for children,which causes the attempt of new ideas from serious literature perspective on his Juvenile fictions. New criticism extract the pessimistic and sentimental feeling from the writer's humorous style,which proves that the significance of Mark Twain's literary contribution and depth of thinking is far beyond the using of western language and American style humor. This paper analyzes the causes of sentimental narration existing in Twain's juvenile literary works from three aspects:the writer's life experience,social development and ideological change,focusing on the influence of the tragic life experice on his creation,his social point of views under the background of the rapid development of the United States,and the process of his democratic thought from embryonic to mature stage.
