Kazuo Ishiguro’s second novel 'Ukiyo Painter' shows the complex and changing social landscapes of Japan after the War by the reminiscent narrative of the protagonist Ono.In the novel,Ono’s father’s living room, and the luxury house bought from Sugimura Ming happily form the'sacred space'in Ono’s life. However, the declined and stale'luxury house'after the War freely shows the'desacred'space form in the author’s writing.Exploring the space types in'Ukiyo Painter'is helpful for the exploration of the deep connotation of the novel.
