Mu Xiangxiong comes from a family of swimming tradition.The four sons,of a 13-child family. were especially impressive with Xiangxiong being the standout. He joined the Chinese national team at 18 and won the 100m and 200m breaststroke national titles in 1952.Nicknamed the King of Breaststroke,he broke 100m breaststroke world record three times within a year in 1958.
